Scenic Park in the Bay Area
Laurelwood Park is a beautiful hidden place in San Mateo, CA, which is a perfect spot for hanging out with kids and/or pets because of the clean grassy lawn and well-outfitted playground. Laurelwood Park is a gateway to Sugarloaf, which comprises of many trails, some of which are very steep and lead up to the hilltop.
The entire area is used mainly by locals, so if you live in San Mateo, then Laurelwood Park should be your ‘must visit’ list because it is one of those lesser known places in the region where you can relax and enjoy the natural beauty that covers the park from all corners.
Features and Sights
The park features a playground where you can spend some exciting time with your kids or pets. When you are done playing, you can use one of the many restrooms that are available within the park. There is no problem in car parking as well, because you can easily park your car on Glendora Drive or Shasta Drive, two spots that are close to the park.
Laurelwood Park leads to Sugarloaf, another beautiful area that has a number of steep trails, but I will recommend you to visit a super sweet path that was built by TrailCenter in 2014. The base of the hill has shaded flat paths whereas routes to the top of the hill are sun-baked. Visit this park in the spring season, especially in early spring because the park is filled with lush green trees and fresh grass, which enhances the whole experience of taking a stroll in the park.
Visiting the Park
For the best sightseeing experience at Laurelwood Park, begin with a walk on the Salson Trail at the south edge of the playground with the grassy lawn on your left side. If you haven’t had a chance to visit this park, then what are you waiting for? Accumulate your picnic stuff and head towards this park to spend an amazing day in the lap of nature.
You will find several spots where you can lay down and chill with your family or friends. Your children will love this park because they get a large playground to get themselves busy. Moreover, you don’t have to worry about them as there is nothing in the park that could hurt your children. In a nutshell, Laurelwood Park is a perfect spot for families and nature lovers that is surrounded by exciting trails.
